hobby shop
Glad to see a hobby shop in Pi. Wish them the best of luck. Although if they plan to sell parts they will have to start selling associated products.

hobby shop
We have met the guys opening hobby shop. They came from farther than MH to race with us. I don't know what he is planning on stocking for parts. They are waiting on electrician before they can open.

Good dig ray. Even if I was still an active racer how's the attendance since (the club) decided to go to limestone? That aside I love to see anyone take interest in the hobby ,specially enough to start there own shop no matter the location.

Re: hobby shop
Hopefully you'll support these guys better than you were going to support another RC shop that was trying to open.
I believe you said I'll buy from you if your prices are lower than on line.
Thanks for your support.
Even with the lower membership the club can still afford to survive.

Re: hobby shop
I did not start this topic to argue. Marcel your exactly right I would have supported your hobby shop. Where was it? What was it called? To my knowledge other then selling used part out of your basement you never had a hobby shop. So your welcome for my support because I did buy some of your hand me downs.
I can't imagine why you guys are bitter about this. You would think you would be jumping for joy. Now with a hobby shop more people will know about the hobby. And you guys are just foolish if you don't think that if Castle hill hobby started a track that it would not be better for the club or the members in the club. I just don't understand your guys thinking on this?

Like you say you have been out of the loop. The reason I wanted to know if anyone would support a shop was because I was trying figure out if it was worth investing in a building to get out of my basement. I'm not going to argue with you but you never bought anything from me.

Re: hobby shop
As far as the hobby shop goes, I know of no ill feelings from RCCC or any of its members towards a new shop. I think they all embrace it, I know I do for sure. If they build a track, AWESOME! Marcel, Ray, Eric, Maddi, Stacy and myself (sure I forgot someone, SORRY!) would gladly have someone else worry about jumps, carpet, lights, scoring system and so on. I bet for evey minute we put in racing we put a equal minute of doing some form of work there.
The hobby shop Marcel touched base on was back in 2010? there was a existing hobby shop who was in contact with Marcel about having a store in the Caribou area if there was intrest. Some of the clubs response was only if you can beat onlines prices. After Marcel relayed the info to them, they decided against it. Even after that Marcel eyed having a shop in several different locations. If the new shops price is in check I will do a vast amount of my buisness with them. I dont mind paying more to support the local guy, however it needs to be within reason.
As far as club membership, its down. Thats no secret. I cant speak for anyone else other than myself. The reason I am not racing? Time and commitment. As many of you know I dont do anything unless I do it 100%. Well after some recent deaths in my family I realized to do what you want to do when you want to do it other wise when you decide to go you will find you have allready gone! Whats that mean? It means I am a 30 somthing man who has gotten off his butt and gone to do stuff, namely ice fishing. Jan 1st- March 31st I went on 19 different trips. Remember 100% or nothing. Well with 100% to fishing left me no time to race.
Do I have any ill feelings towards ANY club member? Absolutley not. I think (hope) Marcel, Ray and other members understand why I am not there. Will I be back? Absolutley. When? Who knows? 2013 or 14 or 15 or ? but I will be back and every January I will gladly stop in, pay my dues for the year, and do some bench racing. With that said I think the club knows if they call me right now and say they need my help for x, y or z they know I would do what I can to help out.
Anyways, just my thoughts. Go fast and turn left!

Re: hobby shop
We do plan on supporting the new hobby shop. We've asked them to tell us when the grand opening is because we would like to be there to show our support. So far RCCC has made every effort to support Keith and Matt. They have even joined RCCC so if they open a track we'll be there. Like Jesse said it's more fun to go racing and not worry about the track set up or anything else. Ray and I have gone racing all over the state and Canada. I have raced all over the US, Canada and Europe so if a track opens in PI, Marshill or any where in Maine.

Re: hobby shop
Marcel it was a few years ago but I purchased a pan car from you wich now the cyr's own. Also a vxl speed controller that is in my sons stampede and at least 3 cans of compound. And pre lipo days you zapped packs for me and turned down motors for me. Now that is not much but it is not NOTHING! All bickering aside now, I get why you guys wanted to go to limestone. It was cheap and most importantly available. For me I weighed out the fun vs. travel time and well you guys have seen what won. I have seen the track and loved racing on it. Next to the mall nicest facility the RCCC has been in. Problem it is in the middle of no where. And it wouldn't be any better if the track was in mars hill.
That being said I see this as a perfect chance to combine forces. PI is the largest town in the county. The club and the store owners would largely benefit from it. Just saying it would be crazy to rule it out. Me personally I see Castle Hill starting a track weather RCCC is on bored or not. It is in the stores best interest, and at the end of the day the store has to make money.
I have typed my peace.

Re: hobby shop
I know good and well that both organizations would benefit from Castle Hill would benefit if they were to open track. I have talk to Kieth ares times and his crew have come out to race with us at the track. Here a bit of history : the owner of the hobby shop has been in this hobby for only a few years. Before he came to our track he had never seen what we consider organized RC racing. Setting up a track is not even on their mind at this point. Their budget is very tight and they don't have the space.
By the way you're talking I know you haven't met Kieth yet. Once you meet Kieth message me again and we'll see what you think.
As as buying from me: our deals have mostly been trades. Also my basement sales have helped quite a few racers keep racing or get started in racing. There are racers that have no resources to have parts on hand new or used. We have no choice but to buy from the basement store. My profit in so called basement store has gone to buy more parts to have for people to buy.
I feel I have done my fair share to keep the hobby going in the area. Hell Ray and I have taken money out of our pockets to pay for rent so we would have a place to race. So forgive if I take my efforts to help this hobby out to heart.
I would love it if someone would open a track. It would be great to go racing and not have to worry about anything but racing like a lot of people. Oh and supporting a track in the county would easier than going 3 hours away to race ask Ray.
I too post in peace and share my opinions.
